A Light Body path for those traveling home

Global Meditation

A Global Meditation for the Earth On the first Sunday of each month, from July 1st. 2007 to June Ist. 2008

We invite you to join us in this fifteen minute world wide meditation as a gift to our greater body, the Earth. The time of the meditation will vary according to your time zone, so as to allow us to co-create a healing wave for the Earth. Please forward this to your friends. Please refer to the end of this email for some of the different meditation times.

The meditation honours Ghandi's principle of "being the change we want to see in the world. It is inspired by an ancient Chinese story called "The Rainmaker" ( a contemporary version):

"After many months of severe drought, the people of a small village in ancient china were rapidly running out of food and water. fearing the seemingly inevitable approach of dehydration and starvations, the villagers gathered together one morning to discuss what to do about the impending disaster.

One elder suggested they send a couple of villagers to a distance province of china to fetch the renowned "Rainmaker". The suggestion was quickly agreed upon, and the villagers gathered together their few remaining treasures - some small bags of uncooked rice and a jade bowl - as gifts for the Rainmaker.

After many days of walking over baked earth, the exhausted villagers arrived at the home of the Rainmaker. They offered him the rice and the jade bowl, and asked him if he would be willing to come back with them to their drought stricken village to make rain.

The Rainmaker said he would be happy to do so, and explained he did not want any of their few remaining treasures. All he needed, he said, was a quiet cave on the outside of the village where he could live undisturbed for three days. So, when the small weary group returned to the village, the villagers showed the Rainmaker to a quiet cave at the edge of their village, and left him there.

After three days it rained. The villagers were amazed and delighted. They ran to the Rainmaker's cave and asked him what he did to create the rain. "I simply went within," he explained. "I centered myself, uniting heaven and earth in my heart."

Do you want to become a "Rainmaker"? The Rainmaker understood and embodied the truth of the human being as a microcosm of the macrocosm. He knew that when we unfold the balance and unity of body, spirit and heart, we allow our greater body, the Earth, to reflect this balance. The rainmaker meditation is not intended as an alternative to fossil fuel reduction, to lightening our "energy footprint" upon this planet. But rather as a companion to environmentally responsible living - the one facilitating and promoting the other.

One of many possible meditations for this 15 minute Earth meditation:

1. In a quiet, comfortable place become aware of your heart area.

2. Invite your heart area to soften and relax.

3. Imagine your heart area as an expanding sphere of compassion, and allow this compassion sphere to expand to include your personal body.

4. Now feel your compassion sphere expanding further to include our greater body, the Earth.

5. Continue to expand this heart of compassion sphere until it includes the solar system, the galaxy and the whole of creation.

6. Now feel your heart sphere expanding to include and become the source of All That Is.

7. Rest now within this unity consciousness for the remainder of the 15 minute meditation.

8. When the meditation ends, intend that you walk each day in unity consciousness, experiencing the Earth as your greater body.
